Christmas 2010 Layout Using Chomas Creations Gel Pen Holder

I need to catch up on my scrapbooking!  I decided to create a holiday layout that had some elegance to it, and my Chomas Creations gel pen holder was just the tool to help me accomplish this goal.

As usual photographing scrapbook pages is hard for me, so I have some closeup shots that will help you see the beauty of the gel pens.

Everything was from the Christmas Solutions cartridge, except the numbers I used to spell out "2010" which are from Storybook.

I created 4 layers in my Gypsy.  I named them gold, green, red, & cut.

On the gold page I placed 2 angels at 4.25 inches - with one flipped, and the banner at 1.25.

On the green page I placed the word "Christmas" at 1.75 inches.

On the red page I placed "2010" very carefully over my banner at .75 inches.

On the cut page I shadowed everything.  I didn't want the inner cuts of the angel shadow, so I hid the inner contours to simplify the cut.  The gel pen drew everything so beautifully I didn't want to detract from it with intricate cutting.

These gel pens are so much fun to work with!  They give a really  unique look to projects.  Ir really wish I had better photography skills.  They look so much nicer in person.

I have a lot of scrapbooking to do here over the next month or so.  I am going to try and be better about photographing some of my pages to share with ya'll.  I do many layouts, but most of them don't end up on my blog.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I appreciate it :)  Have a fabulous & very crafty day.

Using Cool Gypsy Tricks to Make a Paper Pendant - Video Tutorial

Hello everyone.  Today I have a video tutorial for you :)

I made this paper pendant using the Chomas Creations gel pen holder.  If you want to see a video of me putting the gel pen holder in my machine, and switching colors, etc. please SEE THIS POST.

In today's video I will be teaching you some techniques with the Gypsy.  The pendant I made is one image.  I created multiple layers, lining them on top of each other perfectly, and hid certain contours to create the multiple colors.  I also show you quickly how to re-name layers, preview what's going to cut, etc.  I just walk you step by step through the entire process of making this cut file.  I am in LOVE with my Gypsy and I use it all the time.  Hopefully you find the video helpful :)

Super Simple Bug Luv Tags

These were so fun to whip up. I am planning on using them to draw prizes at a cardmaking party I'm having in mid-Feb.

I wanted them to be cute, but I also wanted them to be super quick and also flat so that putting them all in a bowl they wouldn't stick together or catch on each other.

Enter the solution, my Chomas Creations gel pen holder.  If you want to see a video I made of a card using it to see how it works you can check out this post.

For these particular tags I did 2 pages in my Gypsy.  One for all the writing, and one for the cutting of the tags.  The font is from A Child's Year, the bug head is from Store Front - but there are other cartridges with bug heads, and the tag is from Plantin' Schoolbook.

Making tags with this gel pen holder is a snap!  Can you imagine how much harder it would have been to cut and glue all these teeny tiny little pieces!  I always have trouble cutting this bug head very small because of the eyes and the antenna - using the gel pen holder that's no longer a concern.

Hope you enjoy today's simple project!  When the time comes I will be sharing lots of more pics of party favors and such from the event I'm having.

Wedding Card

I'm including two photos because this was hard to photograph!  The first one I think the details are clear - but the color is way off - so I've included a 2nd photo to show you the actual color of the pink more accurately.

I made this wedding card using the Chomas Creations gel pen holder in my Cricut.  I designed everything in my Gypsy so that I could draw these designs, and then cut them out.  I have a video of making another card with the gel pens that will show you how to do that - to see that card and video go to this post.

I used the glitter gel pens for this design - I just can't get enough of them!!!  I used a pink for the background - which is from the Storybook Cartridge.  It is a 4 and 1/2 inch square.  The wedding couple is from the Wedding Solutions cartridge - it seemed like a perfect image to use the gel pens for!  I drew them with the silver gel pen at 3.82 inches.  I know this is a weird size, but it's easy to do things like that with a Gypsy.  After drawing them I cut them out using the shadow feature.

The card base is 5 inches square when closed.  I did some simple paper piercing all around the edges to give a little detail.  To make my holes line up nicely I used the Mat Pack from Stampin' Up.  That thing ROCKS!!! It will help you line up holes like this, as well as brads or eyelets.

For the sentiment I used My Pink Stamper's Family and Friends set.  I stamped it in silver ink and cut it out. Then I matted it onto pink cardstock and cut that out.  Super easy :)

I shot video of this - and it turned out horribly :(  I was so disappointed.  The lighting was off and you couldn't see the Gypsy screen and the card looked so washed out.  I decided it was best to trash the video, which stinks.  So, sorry about that.  Like I said the other video I shot will give you a good tutorial on the gel pen holder and how to draw and then cut using the Gypsy.

Have a fabulous day! :)

Winter Fun Penguin Card

Today's card is a quick little something I whipped together.

The sentiment is from the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge.  I used the Chomas Creations Gel Pen Holder and on of her pens.  So quick and easy.  I can't imagine trying to cut this sentiment that tiny.
I used the Cuttlebug Ice Crystals embossing folder for the background.  This folder is a bit harder to find in the US, but I was able to order mine from Custom Crops.
The ribbon was given to me in an assortment bundle - and it reminded me of icicles.
The penguin and snowflakes are from a stamp set called Penguin Love by There She Goes Clear Stamps.
I used the Nestabilities Labels One to cut out the penguin image.
The snowballs are covered in Frosted Lace Stickles.  I like this color for snow because the sparkle is more subtle - it looks more like snow to me then say - the Diamond color.

Peace Card Using the Chomas Creations Gel Pen Holder

I made a video tutorial for ya'll showing you how I used my Gypsy and the Chomas Creations gel pen holder.  I was able to write in 2 colors, and cut.  You also get to see my pretty new Plum Expression in the video.  Oh I am so in love with it.

Be sure and visit Chomas Creations to see Amy's great products, and also be inspired by all the fabulous projects she does.

If you aren't able to watch the video I've included a few pictures of the Gypsy screen that will help you see how I did the layering - just scroll down below the video :)

For those that aren't able to watch the video here's a few shots of the Gypsy set up to do this project.

To finish off the card I used some Waterfall & Silver Stickles, my I Rock with mirror gems, Marina Mist ribbon from Stampin Up, & some DCWV patterned paper.

Kicking of Christmas Blog Hop Project

The comments for this post are now closed.

Welcome everyone!  We are having fun and blog hopping away to celebrate the holiday season with fun and fabulous projects :)  I am the second stop on this hop - you should start here at Amy's Blog.  Then you can come right back here and make sure to enter for the fabulous give-a-way!

After you finish up checking out my project & commenting for your chance to win an awesome prize, head on over to Donna's Blog.

For today's project I made a card to slip a hot cocoa packet inside.  The card measures 5 inches by 6 and 1/2 inches when folded.  I needed this larger size to accommodate the cocoa packet I plan on slipping inside.  The paper is from K & Company.

The craft cardstock is cut at 4 and 1/2 inches square.  I used the fantastic gel pen holder and some of the pens from the glitter assortment all from Chomas Creations.

I used the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge to draw a green square that is 4 and 1/4 inches to create a border.  I used 3 different font features from Plantin Schoolbook to give each word a unique look.  The letters are all close to a 1 inch setting.  "You" is in blue, "warm" is in pink, and "my" is in silver.  The beautiful sparkle of the glitter in the writing is really stunning in person.

The adorable snowman is from SP & Company's set called Falling Snow.  The snowman is normally holding a candy cane, but I simply cut it out of the design and used a chipboard glittered heart in it's place.  I colored him in with Stampin' Write markers - creating stripes on the scarf for a little added flair.  I used Diamond Stickles for some fun bling.

The die cut in the top right corner is by Doodlebug Designs from their Happy Holidays collection on their Cute Cuts die cut sheet.  I simply added more of the Diamond Stickles and a snowflake.  The snowflakes are by Jolee's Boutique.

Aren't you lucky!  Samantha from SP & Company stamps, who I'm proud to be the design team leader for, has decided to donate a great prize to a lucky winner!  To win be a follower of my blog, and comment on this post.  Please include an e-mail, blog link, or some other way I can get in touch with you if you're the winner.

She has donated the Scripty Scrips set!  Here's what it looks like.  Imagine all the wonderful things you could create with this diverse set.

Some of the other blogs have awesome candy too - and there is a $25 gift card to Custom Crops.  The winner will be chosen at random from one of the blogs - so leave a comment on all the blogs for the best shot at winning that fun prize :)

Even if you don't win a free prize, there's still goodies to be had since both Amy and Samantha are having pre Black Friday sales!
