Patterned Turkey Card

 

 

Here's a simple card featuring some fun patterns on an adorable turkey :) 

It's a standard A2 sized card using kraft card stock.  I rounded 2 of the corners using my Corner Chomper.

The stamped sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Harvest Season.  I stamped it using Latte Chalk Ink by Hero Arts.  The little brads came from Michael's - I'm not sure of the brand.

The ribbon is from Stampin' Up in Tangerine Tango - I got it free during the last Sale-a-bration sale.

Now for the best part, the turkey!  He's a Silhouette image.  The patterned papers I used for his feathers come from the Bo Bunny Garden Girl 6 by 6 pad.  I really wantdd to make the feathers unique and fun, but I made sure to only use one really "out there" pattern and the others are more simple patterns in more traditional colors.  Of course the little googly eyes just finish the effect.

A Unicorn Card

 

My daughter is totally obsessed with ponies at the moment.  Not real ponies, but the "My Little" variety.  When I saw this image in the Silhouette store I just knew it would make a perfect little something for her.

The layers were a real pain, but I think the final result is pretty adorable.  I used some Stickles in Yellow and Cotton Candy for some added fun.

The sequins are just cheapies from the craft store.  I attached them with Glue Dots so no adhesive oozes out of the little holes.

I know I've been MIA, but it's because I've been working on something new and very exciting.  I'll be announcing it soon :)  You're going to love it.

Rose Swing Bracket Card

Here's a very feminine card.  I decided to use this for a birthday card, but with a different sentiment I think it would make a great thank you card too.

I cut the flip card from my Silhouette.  It's design #28771.

The papers are from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss 6 by 6 pad.

The gorgeous image is from Papertrey Ink's The Sweet Life set.  The rose has 3 layers stamped in Blush Blossom, Pretty In Pink, and Regal Rose all from Stampin' Up.  The leaves have 2 layers that are in Old Olive and Always Artichoke from Stampin' Up.  I created a mask for the flower so I could stamp the leaves the way I wanted.

Around the frame I added some faux stitching with an Always Artichoke marker from Stampin' Up.  The little pink dots are Liquid Pearls in Petal Pink.  I just LOVE Liquid Pearls.

Here's the inside.

I simple used a Close to Cocoa Stampin' Up marker to do the faux stitching.  Then I stamped a sentiment from Stampin' Up's Elementary Elegance using Regal Rose ink.

Butterflies Card

The first thing I need to mention is that this design was originally done by the talented Anya over at My Creative Corner.  Here is her original post.

Since I was looking at her lovely card most of the designing was already done for me.  I'll list the products I used :)

Silhouette with Echo Park Butterfly #39307

Yellow Papers: Here & Now 6 by 6 pad Lori Whitlock & Echo Park

Butterflies embellished with Bisque colored Liquid Pearls and Yellow Stickles.  To make sure the wings will stay up and dimensional I attached the center of the butterflies with mini glue dots, and then used pop dots on both sides of the centers.  This means the wings won't get pushed flat.  It also means I couldn't put it in a regular envelope and mail it or the wings would easily become bend and smashed.

Main Pattern: Amy Tangerine Sketchbook 6 by 6 pad.  This layer is up on pop dots.  The plain yellow is flat to the card base.

Faux stitching done with Bordering Blue marker from Stampin' Up.

I used washi tape on both sides.

I Love You More Than Cupcakes

I think this card would be great for a young girl.  Yes, it's honestly a little "much" and perhaps even a bit tacky - but I like that sometimes :)  It's FUN!

The cool die cut card front comes from my Silhouette and it's design ID #38523.

I used the BasicGrey RSVP 6 by 6 papers.  I also used the same paper stack in yesterday's card for a VERY different look.  It has lots of versatility.

The cupcakes all come from the Hero Arts set Cupcakes.  I stamped them all using Rich Razzleberry Ink from Stampin' Up.  I stamped 3 times on each pattern I wanted to use and then fussy cut them all out.  After I attached all the layers I used some Stickles.  From top to bottom the colors are Fruit Punch, Cotton Candy, and Icicle.  I like that the Cotton Candy color doesn't really have the sparkle so it helps tone it down just a tad and reminds me more of frosting.

Very simple, but I think it's fun.  I loved this cupcake paper and originally wanted to use it on the outside of the card instead of the stamps, but it just wasn't working the way I wanted so I stuck a bit on the inside and am happy with the results.

Balloons Card

For this card I used the standard A2 size, but I had it fold from the top the long way.

I rounded the top 2 corners on a 1/2 inch setting using my Corner Chomper.

The faux stitching was done with a Gelly Roll pen.

To create the balloons I started by making my own "patterned paper" of sorts.  I stamped Hero Arts Magical Background in Versamark and embossed it with some clear embossing powder.  The one I use is Recollections Detail Embossing Powder.  After I heat set it and let it cool I began to sponge on color.

 I used Stampin' Up ink colors Pink Passion, Ballet Blue (although there was green on my sponge so it came out a different color) and Perfect Plum.  I softly sponged these colors all over the paper.  When I was done I realized I wanted a much softer effect, so to soften the colors and give them a more faded appearance I went over the whole thing with Colorbox Chalk Ink in Popcorn (it's white.)  I actually applied the pad directly to the colored paper to get a good thick coat.

Now that my custom paper was done being created I went ahead and die cut the balloons from it using my Silhouette.  I used Design ID #30178.

I taped some twine to the back of the balloons, and also used a dab of Crystal Effects right at the bottom to keep the twine from shifting.  Then I used pop dots and adhered the balloons to the card base.  The twine was custom dyed in a swap so it doesn't have an official company color name.

I cut the ends of the twine.  Then I added a mini glue dot to hold them together where I wanted to add the bow.  I tied the bow separately, and then adhered it with another mini glue dot.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Mega Mixed Messages.  I used the same Versamark and clear embossing powder.  The bling was from  the Michaels bargain bin area.

Card Trio

To create this fun little set of cards I create a custom cut file using my Silhouette.  It was pretty simple.  I created a rectangle the size of a card front - so 4 and 1/4 by 5 and 1/2.  Then I drew some lines.  I cut the exact same design onto 3 sheets of 6 by 6 paper from the Bo Bunny Ambrosia paper pad.  I did this all at once by grouping my design, and then copying it twice so I could have all 3 on the mat.  After cutting I just shifted the colored pieces around like a puzzle and adhered them to cards.

For the center I used a couple Nestabilities dies.  I cut a scalloped circle in kraft cardstock and a regular circle in white.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's set Elementary Elegance and I used their Mellow Moss ink.

These were very quick to put together and I like that they form a cohesive set.  I intend to make a similar version of these that say "Thank You" and package all 6 together in a set to give someone.

I would like to share the file I created with you, but I need to figure out the best way to do that and simply don't have time to fiddle with it this morning.  Wish me luck in figuring that out and hopefully I will share the file - and perhaps a video when I make the thank you cards to complete the gifts.

Circle Valentine Card

Here's a little Valentine I put together.

I used my Silhouette to create a simple circle card.  It's 5 inches in diameter.  I cut a grey circle to cover the entire card front and hide the fold.  I sprayed that layer with some Marshmallow Glimmer Mist.

I cut a frame in some dark grey cardstock to give a nice clean edge to the card.

The heart was cut from plain white cardstock.  I sponged the Distress Ink colors Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves, and Picked Raspberry.  Then I ran the colored heart through my Cuttlebug folder Textile.  After the embossing I used a little Weathered Wood Distress Ink across the embossed parts to give a little more depth.  I added the heart to the card with a thin layer of foam tape.

The fun banner was also cut from my Silhoutte.  It's image id is #38321.  I stamped on the banner with a Martha Stewart Valentine's set using Versamark ink and then I embossed using some Stampin' Up embossing powder in silver.  I placed a thin layer of foam tape in the center of the banner, and some thick pop dots on the sides so the banner would sit a little higher than the heart.

Wah lah!  This card was actually pretty simple and went together really quickly, but I think it has a big impact.

Love You Card

I thought I'd put something together that would work well for Valentine's Day.

All of the papers i used are from the Dear Lizzy 6 by 6 paper pad Lucky Charm.

The card is a standard A2 size, so 4 and 1/4 by 5 and 1/2.

The notebook layer is 3 and 3/4 by 5.

The kraft colored layer is 3 by 4 and 1/4.

The strip along the bottom is 1/2 inch wide.

The wooden element is from Studio Calico.  I stamped on it in Night of Navy Ink by Stampin' Up.  I used the SP & Company set Mini Card Creations 1.

The heart was cut with my Silhouette.  I put it up on pop dots and went around the edge with Cotton Candy Stickles.

The last embellishment was just a strip of washi tape.

This was pretty quick to put together and I love the eclectic mix of patterns.  What a fun paper pad to work with, it's got a whole lot of different things in it!

Swirly Snowflake Card

Here's yet another one of my holiday cards.

This one started with a cut from my Silhouette.  It's called Swirly Snowflake.  After cutting it out I embellished it with some blue and clear rhinestones.

The sentiment is from the Fiskars set Winter Wishes.

I thought it looked too plain, so I sponged the edges of the card and I liked the way it softened the look.

Simple and quick, yet still elegant.

Elegant Thank You Card

Here's a simple but striking card I whipped up in almost no time at all.

I used the Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design stamp with Versamark and then embossed with Midnight Black embossing powder from Stampendous.

The ribbon is from Stampin' Up and I got it free during the last Sale-a-bration.

The words are die cut using my Silhouette.  Design ID 36753

I added a few Irock gems below it and wah-lah.

I love it when a card that was SO simple to put together comes out looking nice.  Embossing is a great way to add so much interest without a lot of extra work.

Create Without Limits Canvas

Here's my first canvas.  I used some acyrlic paint, Marshmallow Glimmer Mist, silver glitter glue, and loose silver glitter by Martha Stewart.  After I had the paint and glitter exactly the way I wanted it I added some vinyl.  The vinyl was cut using my Silhouette.  I just took a few minutes to pick the fonts and set it up the way I wanted.

This was super easy and a ton of fun.

I tried to take a photo of the sides but it came out too bad to even show it.  I did use some grey chevron washi tape to cover the sides of the canvas.  I like the look of it.  Fun and funky and it will add a lot of decoration while it's hanging.  Plus it was easier than painting the sides because I didn't have to worry about accidentally overlapping the top.

This was a great project for me.  I really forced myself just to get in there and do it while having fun and not worrying about the outcome.  So therapeutic!

Banana Split Card

The paper is from Echo Park's Summer Days 6 by 6 pad.

The little bow was tied using some Stampin' Up ribbon I got free during the last Sale-a-bration.  I used a Labels One Nestability cut, and cut off the top portion of it.  I stamped a cute sentiment from Sweet Stamp Shop's Jars of Sweets.  It says " Delectable delicious scrumptious yummy sweets.  I stamped it using Tempting Turquiouse ink from Stampin' Up.  I used that some color maker to add some faux stitching lines.

The banana split was cut using my Silhouette.  It's design 9746.  I'm not even sure if I put it together "correctly" but I think it looks OK.  There were lots of little pieces and I found it a bit confusing so I just did the best I could.  I added Glossy Accents to the chocolate and it looks like shiny hot fudge in person - so fun.

The ric rac along the bottom was just a random bit from my stash.

Glittered Hearts Card

This card measures 4 and 1/4 square.

The green patterned paper as the back layer is from The Bo Bunny Ambrosia 6 by 6 pad.

For the hearts I used a cut from the Silhouette online store. The design # is 20829 if you're interested in getting it for yourself.  The black piece measures 4 inches square.

I covered the back of the black piece with packing tape.  Then I added glitter to each heart.  I used the Martha Stewart glitter colors Tourmaline, Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, and Purple Spinel.  Loose glitter can be much messier than glitter glue to work with, but it gives a totally different look and sometimes I think it's worth it.  I made sure to really rub the glitter into each heart with my finger and then tap off all the excess so that this card won't be shedding glitter everywhere.

The banner was cut using a Spellbinders Die from their Ribbon Banners set.  It's up on pop dots.

The sentiment comes from Lawn Fawn's Lunar Lights set.  I stamped it in Versamark and then used Stampin' Up's embossing powder in Silver.

Sewing Themed Pop Up Card

I wanted the inside of this card to look like a room.

I tried to make the top of the card look like crown molding, so I added some score lines to a cream piece of cardstock.  I think the effect is great, but of course it didn't photograph worth a hoot.

The desk and sewing machine are both Silhouette studio cut files.  I had to draw the thread on the sewing machine myself because the cut was just too tiny and didn't look right.  

I wanted to place to write my message to fit into the "room" theme like the crown molding and such so I used a couple Spellbinders dies and hope it looks like a rug on the floor.

I was really careful with my patterned paper choices to try and look like a wall and floor design.  The papers are from the Bo Bunny Garden Girl 6 by 6 pad.

Here's the outside of the card.

I really wanted to stick with the sewing theme.  I chose a patterned paper from the same pad that reminded me of a quilt.  It has all these great squares with designs in them just like a quilt.

I used my sewing machine to do some real stitching in brown thread.

I used the same Spellbinders dies as the inside of the card, and then popped them up for a touch of dimension.  I did some faux stitching with a white gel pen and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment from their set, Simple Things.

I think this would be a fun housewarming card, or just to give to another crafty friend.

For My Wonderful Mother-in-Law

This is the last of my Mother's Day cards.

The paper is from the Bo Bunny 6 by 6 pad Garden Girl.  The only exceptions are the layer the sentiment is on with the soft pink, and some vanilla cardstock in the flower center and for the card base.

The ribbon is from Celebrate it by Michael's.

The flower was cut from my Silhouette and I spent some time jazzing it up.  I used a stylus to make veins in the leaf, did lots of inking on all the layers in different colors, and then curled the petals up.  It has so much dimension.  Even my husband seemed impressed when I showed him (and that is hard to do, believe me.)

The sentiment was built using a couple SP & Company Mix N Match Sets: Kids, and Family.  The inks used were Close to Cocoa and Rich Razzleberry from Stampin' Up.

Hopefully she likes it.  I really do have the best mother-in-law so I wanted her card to be really nice too.    She doesn't read my blog at all so she will be surprised, and luckily I don't have to mail it.  Honestly if I did that it would completely ruin the flower!

I'm glad to be done with all 3 of my Mother's Day cards for this year.

Have a Sunny Day Breakfast Card

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut these shapes.

The plate, bacon, and eggs were from cut file #16353  I did make the plate 2 layers by altering the size and cutting 2 instead of 1.

The coffee cup was from set #33995  It comes with 3 different cups, which I love for the variety.

I dressed up all my cuts with plenty of inking in different colors (which of course barely shows in the photo.)  I used the Peachy Keen set Dolly Dumplins for the adorable faces.

The sentiment is from Pink By Design's set Country Living.

The patterned paper is from the Echo Park 6 by 6 pad Summer Days.

The ribbon is by Offray.

I drew the stitching lines and dots with a Stampin' Up marker.

I think this will be a fun just because card to make someone smile :)

5 Birthday Card

First I need to tell you that this card is a pretty close copy of a card done by the very talented Jessica Witty!  Please see this post on her blog for her gorgeous creation that I used as a guideline for my card today.

To do the stitching I used my sewing machine with no thread to make the evenly spaced holes and then used 3 strands of embroidery floss and hand stitched it in.

I used my Silhouette to die cut out the 5.  I layered some My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky paper behind it.  I also did some faux stitching with a white gel pen.  My card does not have the 5 inside when the card is opened like the inspiration card, it's just a layer behind the kraft.

For the banner I used SP & Company's Happy Banners.  I stamped the solid banner in a soft blue and then cut it out with a small white border.

The little heart is from Close to My Heart's set Treasures. 

For the sentiment I used My Pink Stamper's Everyday Occasions.  Originally it said Happy Happy Birthday and I just cut it into 3 separate stamps which made placement on this banner very easy.

There you have it.  Usually I try not to copy the original work of others, but sometimes I just love something so very much I can't help myself and this was one of those occasions.  I figure as long as I give proper credit the occasional scraplift is permissible :)

Out of This World Card

Here's a perfect card for a boy's birthday.

The fold of card is called a side step.

The patterned star paper on the left panel is from the Bo Bunny Blast Off 6 by 6 pad.

The sentiment reads "Hope your birthday is out of this world!" and it's from Stampin' Up's Blast Off set.

All the cuts were made using the Silhouette.  

I'm going to provide all the info on the images I purchased from the Silhouette online store so you can find them.

Alien in rocket ship: Design ID #26133

Both planets and stars: Design ID #26131

Alien on the bottom: Design ID #14323

 I decided I really wanted to embellish the rocket ship and make it special.  I attached a couple dark blue pieces of bling to the top.

For the window with the alien I used a Window Charm from Close to My Heart.  It was a little smaller than the window I cut so I decided to use some Turquoise Stickles around it to create a little frame.

I also used the Stickles colors Yellow, Orange Peel, and Xmas Red.

Berry Sweet Layout

Hello friends.  I've got another layout to share today.

I started off with an adorable strawberry covered paper from the DCWV Snack Stack.  I cut a circle out of the center using my Silhouette and then I layered it onto some green cardstock.

I used a white gel pen to draw stitching lines around the inner edge of the circle.

The title was cut using a title I purchased from the Silhouette online store.  It took awhile to put together, but I think it was worth it.  After I assembled it I decided to add some white gel pen dots to the letters.

The label underneath was also from the Silhouette store.  I used some red brads from my stash and some Stampin' Up markers for decoration and journaling.

After I cropped the photo into a square I matted it and then added little green gems to the corners for an accent.

 

The photo is layered on top of a strip of paper from the Recollections stack All Girl.  I went around the edges of that layer with a Stampin' Up marker for more faux stitching.

Sorry I've been out of touch again.  Contrary to what you might think I've been doing TONS of crafting.  I am really catching up on my scrapbooking.  I've scrapbooked lots of newer photos, but some older ones have been sitting for a long time.   I've gotten really motivated and I'm almost done with them now.  It's been a lot of work but I can't wait to slip them into their albums and enjoy them.

Can I make an honest confession?  Scrapbooking feels like the most work and the biggest burden of any craft I do!  That's not to say I don't enjoy it, but I feel very obligated to do it.  I just feel I simply MUST scrapbook.  Maybe I'm weird, but I feel it's so important to do this for my kids.

The good news is that I end up having fun making most of my layouts and I LOVE the feeling of completion.  The kids just LOVE their albums and love to tell the stories from them over and over again.  So, even when I feel a little creatively stifled and obligated when I stare at a huge stack of photos I feel must be scrapped it's all worth it to me in the end.
