Using Cool Gypsy Tricks to Make a Paper Pendant - Video Tutorial

Hello everyone.  Today I have a video tutorial for you :)

I made this paper pendant using the Chomas Creations gel pen holder.  If you want to see a video of me putting the gel pen holder in my machine, and switching colors, etc. please SEE THIS POST.

In today's video I will be teaching you some techniques with the Gypsy.  The pendant I made is one image.  I created multiple layers, lining them on top of each other perfectly, and hid certain contours to create the multiple colors.  I also show you quickly how to re-name layers, preview what's going to cut, etc.  I just walk you step by step through the entire process of making this cut file.  I am in LOVE with my Gypsy and I use it all the time.  Hopefully you find the video helpful :)

Peace Card Using the Chomas Creations Gel Pen Holder

I made a video tutorial for ya'll showing you how I used my Gypsy and the Chomas Creations gel pen holder.  I was able to write in 2 colors, and cut.  You also get to see my pretty new Plum Expression in the video.  Oh I am so in love with it.

Be sure and visit Chomas Creations to see Amy's great products, and also be inspired by all the fabulous projects she does.

If you aren't able to watch the video I've included a few pictures of the Gypsy screen that will help you see how I did the layering - just scroll down below the video :)

For those that aren't able to watch the video here's a few shots of the Gypsy set up to do this project.

To finish off the card I used some Waterfall & Silver Stickles, my I Rock with mirror gems, Marina Mist ribbon from Stampin Up, & some DCWV patterned paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Customizing Images

Sometimes an image is close to what you want, but not exact.  I am starting to find more and more that I can manipulate images into whatever I want them to be.

My son turns one today and his party is on Saturday.  I bought teddy bear themed party supplies and the little teddy bear on the party supplies looks like this....

So, I took the bear from Create a Critter and I made him a shirt.  I used Plantin Schoolbook in my Gypsy.  I didn't get it perfect with my basic shapes in the Gypsy so I did cut a little by hand while I temporarily adhered it to my bear.  I also cut out a star and a one sized to fit on the shirt.

I simply got a balloon from Celebrations that already had stars on it.  I grabbed the hat from Everyday Paper Dolls & cut it out twice to create the layers myself.

I also customized this rocket from Just Because Cards.  I added the wing in the middle & used hide contour to hide the second window that is part of the cut.  I cut a separate one in blue to make the wings blue.  I wanted the red base toward the bottom, so I cut the yellow checkered cut about in half to reveal it.  I cut a strip of paper for the purple in the center and then glued it on and trimmed off the edges.  It really does give the rocket a whole new look with one window instead of 2, 2 colors to the body and a different wing color than the tip, & an extra wing.  I'm very pleased with the result! To see what the rocket ship looks like normally - there is a GREAT card on this post in the Cricut forum featuring it, so you'll be able to see the difference.  To see it check out this post - its the 3rd card

I'll show you the sign these were used on soon.  Wish me luck with the party on Saturday - it's been so crazy around here I haven't had a chance to shoot any videos.

Dog Gone Cute Scrapbook Page, Video

Here's a video of me putting together a scrapbook page with the Cricut.  I show how to put one of the dogs from Paisley together and show a bit of how I set up some sizing of the title in my Gypsy too.

Gypsy Sizing Tutorial

This is just a basic video talking about different ways to size your images using your Gypsy.  You can right click and select "Watch on You Tube" if you have any problems watching it embedded on my blog.

For those that don't know what a Gypsy is, it's a product that works with a Cricut die cutting machine, basically, you can cut your own shapes and images to customize the colors and sizes of your embellishments.  Visit http://www.cricut.com/ to learn all about their machines.

For You Sweet Baby Girl Card

This card was quick and easy.  It was made to go with the book I just made.  I think they match beautifully.  Anyways, I used my Gypsy Wanderings cartridge for all the lettering.  It's really a wonderful and diverse cartridge!  It's easy to use too!  All these letters were pre-welded, I just sized and cut them!  Super easy!  I did weld "baby" and "girl" together by the little tail like swirl.  That's it!

The reason my bow looks so nice is that I used my Ultimate Crafter's Companion.  I assure you, I stink at bows!  *LOL*  That thing really comes in handy!!!

My First Project Using My Gypsy, A Baby Word Book

I had an absolute blast designign this!  It's basically a small, pre-embellished scrapbook for a new mother.  I designed all the pages to fit a 4 by 6 photo perfectly, and included a place on each page to record a date or small note.  I am just showing my favorite page, instead of all of them.  Every single one of the stickers is from HSN's exclusive line, 3 Birds.  The front page patterned paper is by Die Cuts with a View, and I used Plantin' Schoolbook, and Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridges for the design.  The ribbon is all pretty random stuff.

I had some real difficulty with figuring out the binding.  I ended up using ribbon.  I glued the ribbon to the back of each page, then I sewed all the ribbon together.  I scored the cover, and then glued it down to all the ribbon.  I used Zip Dry adhesive to do all this with.  I think it worked out pretty well, although it left me really wanting a cool binding machine instead!

To watch a great tutorial on making word books using the Gypsy, check out this fabulous blog!  http://craftingthenightaway.blogspot.com/

This project taught me so much, and ti was a great feeling completing it! I also loved the fun I had with the googly eyes.  I remembered that I had some leftover and though I'd try it, and I just LOVE the result!

Please excuse the photo.  I had not yet attached the cover, so it's mis-aligned, and when I took my second series of pics after attaching it, they came out really dark and crummy, so instead of giving it a 3rd go I decided that photo was good enough!  *LOL*
