How To Create Your Own Felt Embellishment

Here's a fun little felt embellishment I created.

I was inspired by this pack of felt embellishments.  They are by KI Memories.

I thought I'd make my own smiling sun embellishment and maybe later try my hand at making some other things too.

The great thing about this project is that the supplies are affordable.  So, if you want to try it you aren't investing a lot to learn to sew with felt.

I've created a video tutorial for you.  It's under 5 minutes, but if you're really strapped for time here's a quick list of what I used.

I used cheap felt you can get from any craft store.
Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge to make a template to cut the darker orange shape.
Nestabilities to cut the circle.
Embroidery floss, 2 strands thick.
Googly eyes attached with Scotch Quick Dry.
Poly-Fil Stuffing, but feel free to recycle and use something else.

Here's the quick video that will show you the process.

My Daughter's Stocking, FINALLY done

I cannot believe that this is actually done!  Seriously, this is a project I started forever ago.  I would spend several weeks working for many hours a day, and then fizzle out and forget about it for a few months.

I am so proud to finally have finished my daughter's stocking!!!  Now, I have to start on my son's!  *LOL*

This is a felt kit from Bucilla.  They make BREATHTAKING designs.  I cut, sequined, beaded, embroidered, did some hand sewing, and wa-lah!  It's not really very creative since I used a kit, but certainly TONS of hours of work and a lot of love.  No one will ever stitch it exactly the same.

I don't have much else to say about this one.  I'm super proud, and relieved I finally completed it.  If you like this and would like to try some felt kit projects of your own I buy my kits from Herrscheners.  I have done some ornaments before and they were SO much fun.  So, if you want to try this out that would be a good place to look.  I'm sure there are others too, I just happen to start ordering from them a few years back and like them.

Yet Another Felt Ornament

This is the last one I'll show.  It's my personal favorite of the set.  There are 2 more, but I feel like I've shown enough pictures of them for you to get the point!  *LOL*

I purchased stocking kits for both my kids that are a similar technique, but I just wasn't able to get them done this year.  So... look forward to seeing them for next holiday season.  They are absolutely breathtaking.  I will be working away at them all throughout the year.

Another Felt Ornament

Here's another handmade felt ornament.  Yes, I know I have been showing a lot of these, but they take many hours, so that does detract from my time to do other projects :)

Santa Ornament

Here's another ornament in the series of 6 I'm making.  These may not be the easiest or quickest to do, but the results are wonderful.  Maybe next year I'll make some that I get to keep for myself!!!

Handmade Elf Ornament

This is one ornament in a series of six that I am making for Christmas gifts.  It's from a Bucilla Kit.  You get stamped felt which you cut out, embroider, sequin, stuff, and sew together.  It's a lot of work, but I think they will be appreciated and loved.  I really struggle with the stem stitching on these, which is the kind that's done on parts like the eye, and here on the frosting of the gingerbread man! *LOL*  I'm getting a lot of practice with that stitch on all these ornaments though, so maybe I'll get better!
