Thinking of You Spring Easel Card w/ Video

Today's project is for the brand spankin' new challenge over at Scrapbookaholic by Abby!  The theme this time is anything spring.  You'll want to go check it out so you can see the whole design team's projects and also submit your own for a chance to win a fantabulous prize :)

For my card today I created an easel card, but I used kind of a different shape and different measurements than are considered traditional for this style.

I have decided to include a video tutorial as well as a written explanation - so you can choose which format works best for you if you want to duplicate this card :)

Here's the video:

Here's the written instructions:

To make the easel base I started off with a piece of cardstock that was 4 inches wide by 9 inches long.
I scored it at 2 and 3/4 and 5 and 1/2

The piece in the front that is holding the card upright is 1 and 1/2 by 4.  I tied the ribbon around it before attaching it with pop dots.

This is what the base of this card would look like from the side with no embellishment.  Just remember, I tied my ribbon on before attaching the bottom piece.

To create the main scene on the front of the card I cut an oval shaped card from the Smiley Cards cartridge at 4 inches.  Then I cut it in half.  This gave me 2 ovals with a flat bottom, so I could make 2 cards out of that.  If you don't have an oval shaped card just cut an oval and then trim one of the longer sides flat on your paper trimmer.

The grass and stems are all one piece cut from Straight From the Nest at 2.5 inches.
The flowers are all from Serenade and cut at 1.25 inches.

The flower centers are just circles from Plantin' Schoolbook cut at .5 inches.

I finished off the card with a stamp that says "Thinking of You" from My Pink Stamper's Everyday Occasions set stamped in Stampin' Up's Pixie Pink.

I went around the card with A Stampin Up Marker in Tempting Turquoise to create stitching lines.

I added Stickles in Waterfall, Yellow, & Fruit Punch to the flowers as a finishing touch.

Now, I want to highly encourage you to go join in the fun over at Abby's Blog!!!

Here are the rules to enter your project into the challenge!

I like the dimensions of your easel card. I'm doing my first official card class at my home on Sat. I know you do these too. Any last minute tips, suggestions? I'm excited, there are 6 ladies coming.
