Craft Supplies for Little Ones - Know of Any?

Hi there crafty friends.  I come today not with a project, but with a question.  Do you know of any places that carry reasonably priced art supplies that would entertain my little 2 year old daughter?  Also, websites or good books with projects for toddlers and preschoolers?  She loves to be in my craft room and create with me.  In this picture she is making a birthday card for her Daddy.

I want to get her a nice art table to put in my office for Christmas, and I figure I should start stocking her up on supplies like markers, papers, stickers, glue sticks, self inking stamps, etc.  At her age I have to be careful that everything is designed for kids to use and non toxic.  The only place I know of for great prices on supplies is OrientalTrading.com  they seem to have self inking stamps she could use.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope some of you have crafting with young ones before and might have some advice for me.  :)

Oh easy one....go to the 99 cent store they have these chunky stamps that have a great handle on them she can stomp out images with.
Get large sheets of newprint paper pretty cheap at any craft store or places that carry any supplies. On my blog I just posted up how to make salt dough ghosts...very quick and easy receipe she can make what she wants with it. Also Oriental trading company has lots of stuff she can play with. I always hit the clearance section of my local Michaels or Jo anns to get the kids stuff to use. Also self adhesive foam stickers and sheets are perfect for her. Hope this helps.

I like to stock up on markers, crayons, scissors and glue at walmart during back to school time, usually all these items are in the 25-75 cent range...also my kids love to play with my scraps or cricut cutout mistakes or even the negative space cuts...

Oh I'm so glad to see your little one already making a card for Daddy! I've been crafting with my Grandaughter since she was 2. I started with washable markers and stickers and $1.00 rubber stamps and non toxic ink and my scrap papers. She would go wild with all of this stuff. She's 7 now and still loves crafting with me and she's really quite creative! Gotta love the kiddies!

My three year old loves to play in my scrap basket and with extra Cricut cuts. She also loves to paint. I used to try and keep her clean but if I want to have time to create I just let her go....she asks "I get messy/" and then she goes to town. She usually needs a bath when we are done but she has a lot of fun.

Hi Amber! AC Moore and Michael's have a kid's craft section. I think I would lean more towards ACM. M's has a club you join and I believe it's just for kids. I forget the name of it, but it's on their website. My grandchildren LOVE glitter glue and I can usually find one brand or another at reasonable prices. I also keep some scrap paper on hand for them and I have containers full of those decorative scissors... another thing they love to craft with. HTH! Happy shopping!

I bought my daughter an art easel when she was little, she loved it. I think walmart has them. Every Christmas I always got her construction paper, crayons glue sticks etc. I always stocked up when the back to school stuff came out.

Hello!

Your daughter is adorable! You have so many years ahead to create together! My 3 sons and I have shared our love of art and crafts since they were very small and it has created a never ending bond. They are grown now and share this love with their children.

You have been given many good tips and suggestions of where to buy supplies and her own little table and chair next to mom's is a great start! :<)

Have fun!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane

I find Oriental Trading has some cheaper stuff. Especially if you get the clearance, off season things which kids don't care about.

I do a lot of the Crayola stuff when it is on sale. I make our own playdoh. You can find a ton of recipes on line and it is fun to make with them.

At 2 years old, my daughter's favorite craft supply was colored painter's tape and paper! (she's 4 now and it's still her favorite craft supply!) Or small scraps of colored paper and elmer's glue. Reina used to love to make little masterpieces with the different pieces of colored paper and glue!
