Working With Cricut for a Day

This Saturday there was a Creative Memories scrapbooking event in Colorado.  Since Cricut has partnered with Creative Memories for 3 exclusive cartridges they sent out a couple reps for the event.  Some of my friends and I got to volunteer for the day and teach basic make and take classes, or demo machines.

The Provo Craft reps were Chrisy and Alisa.  Christy is on the left side of the photo, and Alisa on the right :)  They were SO sweet.  How fun to get the chance to get to meet them.  The shirts we are wearing were designed by Jill - one of my local friends in the photo. If you happen to be a Cricut messageboard person you may know her as the Monogram Mom.  I am one of the gals in the front - the scary pale one!  *LOL*

I spent the day demoing the machines.  I answered a lot of questions and showed people how to use all the different feature keys.  It was such a fun experience!  We weren't officially "paid" and were considered volunteers, but we did get some nice goodies that we were super excited about :)

I will say it was interesting for me to learn what people are confused about on their machines and what they needed the most help with.  I did get to answer some Gypsy questions as well, but the majority of the day was about the great features of the Expression machine :)

I think I might do a Cricut basics video series based on what I've learned about what people need to know.  I know many of my readers are more experienced, but I figure once it's completed I can have it easily accessible on  a page as a whole series of tutorials to help someone who is new.  I may consider doing a basic Gypsy series as well - and maybe a more advanced Gypsy series if people request it.  If you have any thoughts or requests regarding those video series let me know!

Thanks Provo Craft for the amazing experience!  This is my second time meeting official Provo Craft employees and I must say all 3 that I've met have been so much FUN!!!!

That's really cool, Amber, that you got to do that. Having had my Expression for only 5 months, there are plenty of things I don't know!! Like when you use a cartridge where the size is based on the base item you print first and then everything is proportional to that. So what if you want to cut other images besides the base item. Sometimes using real dial size still doesn't work. I made a card and mentioned this in my post. Here it is: http://patsscraps.blogspot.com/2011/03/bug-smile-and-patterned-papers.html I think the sizing can be very tricky sometimes! -- Pat N.

You LUCKY GIRL! Sounds like it was a lot of fun and great get together! NO! You are not scary! A little pale....maybe... but not scary! LOL! I probably would have worn them out with all of my questions. :)

LOL, Amber! The boor deer on my card isn't a pinch around the page...it's from the new Elegant Edges cart. Don't ya love it? It's my new favorite! I know which punch you're talking about, though, I have it. It has loops just like this cricut cut.

What? Boor deer? What the heck is that? Darn iPad always correcting me! It should say "border". LOL!

Well, it sounds like you had a great time, and how much fun that should have been!!! I'm so happy you got to go and meet such wonderful people!

I think it would be great if you'd set up some video basics -- I'm sure it would get the attention of loads of people that could use some help!!!

How fun for you!! I wish the Cricut Gals would come to Washington!! I have a good friend that does classes at the local class store.. but she is there to do the projects. She ends up asnwering a zillion questions about cricut/gypsy operation. So if you did a video on both... I can speak personally they would be watched and very beneficial. Thanks also for your kind comments on my recent b-day card. I'm having fun and love your comments!!
