Whole Latte Love Gift Set

I thought it would be a good idea to have a simple set on hand if someone is going through a rough time and needs a little cheering up.

I have had times in the past where I heard some horrible news of a friend going through a rough time and ran straight to Hallmark for a perfect card and some little gifts.  I thought it would be a good idea to have something ready to go.  The inside of the card is blank so I can tailor a personal note later and fill up the little bag with whatever seems appropriate.  This would work for any occasion from being sick all the way to a family tragedy.  That way I can act quickly and bring some love and well wishes to someone who needs it.

For the bag I just folded a 2 inch flap at the top and creased it with a bone folder.  Then I added the paper.  I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch 2 large holes for the ribbon to tie through and keep the bag closed.

Trio of Tags

Holiday tags can be such a fun project.  They are quick and easy to make, and can be used as a way of getting rid of scraps leftover from other holiday projects.  Today I have created 3 simple tags to share with you.

Supplies Used On All Tags

Papers - Mine are from the DCWV Holiday Stack - I purchased it last year, 180 sheets for $20, but they are thin so I made sure and backed them with a plain brown cardstock for stability.

Versa Mark Ink covered with Stamp N Stuff Embossing Powder in Green Tinsel - Stampendous makes it, and I purchased it at Michael's. This is the most awesome heat embossing powder because it has glitter in it!!!  You'll need a heat tool to do the embossing.

SP & Company Stamps, the Stitchery Doo set.  This was used  for the faux stitching to make a quilt effect. It was stamped in Real Red Classic ink from Stampin Up.

Bling for the center of the flower - although I would have preferred a pearl.  I learned how to make the flower from this tutorial on Youtube. 

Milk and Cookies Box

I just love this little box.  I created the box itself using my Ultimate Crafter's Companion.  One of the features it has is that it has a section for boxes.  It automatically makes the lid slightly bigger than the base with NO MEASURING required!  Yeah, I love that!  When people start talking about measurements like 16ths I get pretty confused easily.  I was never good at that stuff.  The paper is from a DCWV Pack.

To decorate the box I cut a heart with my Cricut at 6 inches, this one is from Create a Critter.  The milk is also from Create a Critter cut at 3.25 inches.  I wanted to make it extra special so I cut it in some thin acetate - which was just cheap transparency sheets I bought at the local office supply store, they were like 10 cents.  

I inked around the edges with white Staz On because it was just too clear - I actually lost it on my desk for about 10 minutes!  *LOL*  I added some red lines to the straw using a Stampin' Write Marker from Stampin' Up.  To attach the milk to the jar I was concerned with not wanting something to look gunky, so I tried using Diamond Glaze all over the milk.  I figured if I just used it on some spots it would be more obvious. I think it actually gave a nice liquid effect and I'm happy with it - although the acetate did warp a little as it dried, but it's SO thin so that didn't really surprise me.

The gingerbread is from SP & Company stamps form the set called Cutest Gingerbread Man.  You get to pick the face for your gingerbread :)  I chose a winking one with eyelashes to be more girlie.  I filled in some areas with my white gel pen so I could color them.  I colored the cheeks and mouth pink and the buttons green - with small brown dots for buttonholes.  I used some Liquid Applique for the frosting.  It's my first time using it and I had so much fun - after it dries you heat it and it puffs up!  I haven't seen it locally but I ordered it online from Joanns. 

The & symbol is from a sheet of cuts from Doodlebug Designs from their Happy Holidays Collection - of course you could easily die cut your own for a similar look.

Cupcake Gift Box

 

Here is a simple cupcake takeout box I created.  The take out box is see through, it's sort of a frosty color though, not completely clear.  I purchased it from The Container Store.  I used leftover Cricut Cuts from the Sweet Treats cartridge that were part of my daughter's birthday party decorations.  Just my luck the cupcakes happened to fit the sides of the box perfectly.  I embellished them with a bit of Diamond Stickles.

For the top of the box I took 2 different flowers and layered them with pop dots, then I added bling in the center.  To attach them to the top of the box I also used pop dots, but I had to make sure and only put the on one side of the box flap so that it can still be opened.  I finished off with some of Stampin' Up's satin ribbon in bows on the sides. 

Since I used pre done cuts this was super quick and easy.  I have a box of random cuts that I haven't used yet, I think maybe it's time to have some fun with them.  Thanks so much for stopping by today :)  I am excited to get back in touch with everyone.  I don't have appropriate lighting for videos yet, but very soon I will.  Stay crafty everyone!

Giraffe Baby Gift Bag

I made this bag for a challenge over at My Creative Time.

The guidelines were pretty simple.  Use an older Cricut cartridge and either alter something or make something 3d.  I went with a simple gift bag using New Arrival.

The patterned paper is by Die Cuts With a View.  I punched the top & bottom edges with my Scallop Border Punch from Stampin' Up, & of course I added googly eyes.  I think for a really quick project this came out super cute!

Sparkly Tag

This is just a simple tag I made.  I used my Gypsy to place this B inside of a scalloped oval.  I cut another, slightly larger oval to act as a shadow or border of sorts, and also provide a nice backing to write on. 

I used double sided tape.  The red, thick kind, I think Provo Craft makes it.  I added Martha Stewart Glitter in silver to the front, and then used the other side to attach the front to the back.  This made it really easy.

So, the tag was monogrammed for personlization, but it also matched the gift bag I purchased perfectly because I was able to select the colors.

The Tags Put to Good Use

Recently I showed some fun tags I made.  Well, I put them to good use and used them to decorate presents I wrapped.  I also used the 2 boxes I made previously with my Ultimate Crafter's Companion.  I think my gifts look really lovely this year!

A Video Making a Holiday Gift Box with the Crafter's Companion

Some handmade gift goodness!

My best friend just had a birthday. Her main gift was a personalized, engraved compact mirror for her purse. I just thought it was so pretty, and would be somewhat practical too. I also took the time to decorate a gift bag for her, and also handmake her a bookmark and card. She's a huge Eeyore fan, so I went with that theme!

Everything was pretty simple to make. The gift bag was just decorated with stickers, and I used a scrap of paper to create the tag. I think the keys were finding stickers that were an appropriate size and just arranging them carefully. This was super easy, and I recommend trying it next time you have a gift to give! It made it so much more personal, and like I said, it wasn't that hard at all! There are such a great variety of stickers out there you're sure to find something great!!

The card was made using a scrapbook paper with Pooh and friends, some fabric ribbon, and a button. I actually sewed the button to the fabric ribbon, and then adhered the fabric ribbon to the paper. The "Happy Birthday" is stamped on, and I had some blue paper on hand I used to accent it. Boy, I love having things on hand!!! Otherwise there are just too many things to buy at a time to make one item! I love to get large stacks of papers in solid colors just for occasions such as this!

The bookmark was made cutting out individual squares from the paper I bought. Pretty easy! I cut the bookmark, cut the squares, glued them on, and then I laminated the bookmark and trimmed it. I was really glad to have my laminator handy for this project!!! I don't use it all that often, but for things like this it makes them a lot more durable and really seals everything in for you. I don't have to worry that the corners of the images will come up while she using it or anything.
